Job Summary

Fincantieri Marine Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Engineer to lead the design and development of HVAC systems for building ships. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to supervise and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the design and drawing review process for HVAC systems in shipbuilding projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines in the design and implementation of HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into ship designs.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and provide recommendations for system improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Supervise a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation related to HVAC systems.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to discuss project requirements, progress, and technical issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in HVAC engineering and shipbuilding industries.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in HVAC system design, preferably in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and HVAC design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules and regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register) is advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.

The work environment is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury.
