MRI Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at UPMC Shadyside. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for operating MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results
  • Document patient history in electronic record as required
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, and all charges are adequately entered
  • Practice and maintain MR safety in the department
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program
  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required
  • ARRT Certificate or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of formal training in MRI-related program accredited by the ARRT or ARMRIT program
  • 2 years of MRI experience required
