MRI Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at UPMC. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Practice and maintain MR safety in the department.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.
  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
  • ARRT Certificate or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years of MRI experience.
  • Completion of formal training in MRI-related program accredited by the ARRT or ARMRIT program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform or assist Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
  • Demonstrate complete operation of specialty equipment, analyze data promptly, and complete quality control activities.
  • Assist with the training of staff and students.
  • Promptly respond to medical editing requests.
  • Participate in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.
Requirements:
  • ARRT MR Certified or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
