Research Analyst

About the Role
CNA Corporation's Systems, Tactics, and Force Development (STF) division is seeking a highly skilled Research Analyst to join our team. As a Research Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting decision-makers by providing analysis and recommendations on naval warfare capabilities and limitations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain broad, general institutional knowledge of primary clients/sponsors; their culture, organization, and issues.
- Contribute productively and harmoniously to the work of others; treat everyone respectfully, professionally, and fairly.
- Support business development efforts and/or marketing activities by maintaining strong client relationships through high-quality work.
- Interact with sponsors/clients under the supervision of an experienced colleague, and with study POCs independently.
- Make significant contributions to research publications and analytic products for individual projects.
- Communicate results of work in a clear and concise fashion, effectively presenting work to colleagues, sponsors, and small audiences.
- Work with minimal or no guidance on focused, well-structured pieces of projects, and under closer supervision on more complex, less-structured tasks.
Requirements
- Education: Minimum Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, PhD preferred.
- Experience: Typical minimum requirements Ph.D. & 0+ years or Master's & 2+ years of experience in research and analysis.
- Skills: Ability to make significant contributions to projects/analyses; strong analytic curiosity/creativity; ability to operate independently in the execution of assignments.
- Working environment: The STF Division conducts mostly classified work that must be done at CNA's facility in Arlington, VA. However, in those situations where analysts are working on unclassified parts of a classified study or on a study that is not classified, we offer a hybrid working environment that allows analysts to work off-site.
