Position Summary:

A Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety protocols while working efficiently in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook food items as instructed, ensuring uniformity and adherence to quality standards (e.g.,

Cook various dishes including soups, meats, and vegetables, following proper cooking techniques and temperature guidelines; identify and rectify any discrepancies in product quality; organize and present cooked dishes attractively).

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with food safety regulations, including the upkeep of kitchen areas, storage spaces, and equipment; perform tasks such as trash removal, mopping, and dishwashing.

Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations. Supervise the proper use and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment.
Implement effective food rotation practices (e.g., label and date products, store perishables correctly).
Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Execute station responsibilities (e.g., frying, grilling) in an engaging manner.
Minimize waste and adhere to food cost controls.

Communicate effectively with management, team members, and guests to address any needs or concerns.

Assist in menu development and food preparation.
Open and close the kitchen as required.
Follow directives accurately.
Perform basic arithmetic as needed.

Foster relationships with guests through genuine interactions (e.g., learn names and preferences; engage with them in a friendly manner).

Collaborate as a team player (e.g., work towards collective goals, support colleagues, and maintain a positive work atmosphere).

Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with all staff and the public.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Prior experience in a restaurant or food service role is advantageous.

Qualifications:

Minimum age of 16.
Basic math skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Familiarity with kitchen operations and food safety regulations.

Licensing & Certification:

Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.

Equipment & Tools:

Grill, fryer, and range stove.
Chemical dispensing stations.
Proper footwear is required for safety.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to hear, see, sit, stand, talk, walk, and use hands repetitively.
Physical activities include balancing, bending, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying.

Mental Demands:

The role necessitates strong organizational and planning skills, as well as the ability to read and comprehend instructions effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.


Work Environment: The job is performed indoors in a kitchen setting with exposure to varying temperatures.
