Nursing Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor - Med Center is responsible for providing work direction to the staff and coordinating resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations in the Med/Surg department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides work direction to the staff and coordinates resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations.
- Promotes an environment conducive to quality patient care and advocates for the rights of patients and staff.
- Coordinates the needs of physicians and acts as a liaison between the medical staff and nursing staff.
- Develops and maintains effective intra- and inter-departmental relationships.
- Evaluates the quality of patient care provided in the specialty area and ensures policies and procedures are in compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Conducts ongoing process improvement in collaboration with the manager.
- Serves as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, nursing staff, and external agencies.
- Develops department orientation and continuing education programs for all staff.
- Provides input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues.
- Supports Shared Leadership and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff, including coaching on performance and completing performance reviews.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in an inpatient nursing unit environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
