Job Description:

Radiation Therapy Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical histories and treatment plans to determine appropriate radiation therapy procedures.
  • Collaborate with oncologists and medical physicists to develop individualized radiation treatment plans based on patient diagnoses and specific needs.
  • Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and imaging devices, ensuring proper functioning and safety protocols are followed.
  • Accurately position patients for treatment sessions, utilizing immobilization devices and ensuring precise alignment for effective radiation delivery.
  • Continuously monitor patients during treatment to assess their reactions and provide support, addressing any concerns or complications.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments, including doses administered, equipment settings, and any changes in patient status.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols for radiation exposure, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines to protect patients and staff.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their treatment journey, addressing their concerns and needs compassionately.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) required; must hold a license in New Mexico or be eligible for licensure. CPR certification is also required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with operational methods and safety standards for all ionizing radiation equipment used in the department.
  • Ability to safely handle radiation sources.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
