Job Title: Cancer Treatment Specialist
About the Role:
A Cancer Treatment Specialist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by administering prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer radiation therapy treatments using advanced medical equipment, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Prepare and position patients for treatment, prioritizing comfort and accuracy.
- Operate and maintain complex radiation therapy equipment, guaranteeing optimal functionality.
- Review and verify treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient records, ensuring data integrity.
- Monitor patients during treatment for adverse reactions or changes in condition, taking prompt action if necessary.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and medical physicists to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment procedures, side effects, and post-treatment care, fostering open communication.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, adjustments, and patient progress, adhering to regulatory standards.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with industry advancements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
- Certification and licensure as a Radiation Therapist (e.g., ARRT certification).
- In-depth understanding of human anatomy, radiation physics, and oncology.
- Exceptional technical skills to operate complex medical equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients emotionally and physically.
