Position: Lead Engineer for Underground Transmission Systems at Sargent & Lundy
Are you seeking a position that combines both in-office and remote work? This role offers an ideal balance, allowing you to work three days in the office and two days from home.
As a Lead Engineer for Underground Transmission Systems, you will have the chance to leverage and expand your knowledge in the field of underground transmission engineering. Your responsibilities will include the design of transmission lines for voltages reaching up to 500kV, performing cost assessments, managing design specifications, and addressing siting challenges.
- Design underground transmission systems for voltages up to 500kV
- Conduct cost assessments and develop design specifications
- Manage physical design responsibilities, including duct bank layouts and cable pulling calculations
- Lead small project teams and collaborate effectively with vendors and clients
Qualifications:
Please note that we do not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- A BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Expertise in CYMCAP modeling and cable tensioning calculations
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in underground transmission projects
- Familiarity with XLPE cable design and specification preparation
- Strong understanding of design codes and standards
- Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Current PE license or the ability to obtain one within a year
- Knowledge of various cable systems
- Experience with underground distribution or low voltage cable systems
