As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist with the Army National Guard, you will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for detecting and disposing of explosive ordnance, improvised explosive devices, and other hazardous materials. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safety of our troops and civilians in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate, identify, and dispose of explosive ordnance and improvised explosive devices
  • Conduct intelligence gathering operations to identify potential threats
  • Support Very Important Persons (VIP) missions for the U.S. Secret Service, State Department, and other federal agencies
Required Skills
  • Basic electronics and electricity fundamentals
  • Hazards and identification of United States and foreign munitions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work calmly under stress
  • Aptitude for planning and organizing
  • Effectively use computers
Training and Development

You will receive comprehensive training in explosive ordnance disposal, including 10 weeks of Basic Training and advanced individual training in two phases. Upon completion, you will be qualified to work in a variety of roles, including ordnance research and development, explosive safety and security measures, and civil law enforcement.

As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist, you will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience that can be applied to a civilian career. You may also consider a future as a bomb disposal expert, gunsmith, or munitions handler.
