Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior-Level Mechanical Engineer-HVAC to join our team in New Jersey. As a key member of our Building Engineering Services Group, you will lead the work of the mechanical design team throughout all project phases, from feasibility studies to project close-out. Your expertise in HVAC systems design, code compliance, and project coordination will be essential in delivering high-quality results to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design team throughout all project phases
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete project assignments and deliverables on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at project sites with other disciplines, owners, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications to fit project requirements
  • Understand fan and pump curves to select equipment for different applications
  • Perform psychrometric calculations for analyzing and selecting HVAC systems and equipment
  • Develop sections and elevations for complex ductwork and piping areas
  • Develop air and water flow diagrams
  • Coordinate HVAC system control requirements with controls engineers
  • Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Perform field work and verification of existing conditions
  • Coordinate with affected disciplines on project addenda, RFIs, and change orders
  • Provide construction administration support by reviewing mechanical submittals and answering RFIs
  • Visit project sites to monitor construction progress and prepare field observation reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
  • 10 years of experience in HVAC systems design
  • PE license
  • Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments and work independently or as part of a large project team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience designing complex and large-scale healthcare, laboratory, and/or mission-critical data center facilities
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office
  • Experience using load calculation software, energy modeling software, and manufacturer equipment selection software

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this position is $124,888 - $184,125 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
