About the Role

At HDR, we are committed to creating a collaborative culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a Geotechnical EIT/Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting our team's efforts to deliver high-quality projects that make a positive impact on our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Investigations and Laboratory Testing: Coordinate and conduct field investigations and laboratory testing to gather data and inform design recommendations.
  • Geotechnical Engineering: Perform geotechnical engineering analyses to support design recommendations for bridge foundations, retaining walls, and earthen embankments for roadways, railroads, dams, and levees.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and memos to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Site Reconnaissance: Conduct site reconnaissance to plan and execute geotechnical investigations.
  • Construction Observation: Observe the construction of earthwork for roadways, dams, and levees, and installation of driven piles and drilled shafts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Transportation Projects: Experience working on transportation projects, particularly in Iowa.
  • Advanced Degree: MSCE or ongoing coursework toward an MSCE.
  • EIT Certification: EIT certification is strongly preferred; candidates without EIT will be expected to obtain it for career progression.
  • Local Knowledge: Preference given to local candidates with knowledge of local geology.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with MS Office and software applications.
