Key Responsibilities- Field Investigations and Laboratory Testing: Coordinate and conduct field investigations and laboratory testing to gather data and inform design recommendations.
- Geotechnical Engineering: Perform geotechnical engineering analyses to support design recommendations for bridge foundations, retaining walls, and earthen embankments for roadways, railroads, dams, and levees.
- Report Preparation: Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and memos to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Site Reconnaissance: Conduct site reconnaissance to plan and execute geotechnical investigations.
- Construction Observation: Observe the construction of earthwork for roadways, dams, and levees, and installation of driven piles and drilled shafts.
- Experience with Transportation Projects: Experience working on transportation projects, particularly in Iowa.
- Advanced Degree: MSCE or ongoing coursework toward an MSCE.
- EIT Certification: EIT certification is strongly preferred; candidates without EIT will be expected to obtain it for career progression.
- Local Knowledge: Preference given to local candidates with knowledge of local geology.
- Independent Work: Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with MS Office and software applications.
