Position Overview

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Stroke Care Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Stroke Center Medical Director and Stroke Center Coordinator. This role is essential in executing performance enhancement strategies related to stroke care, adhering to established evidence-based protocols.

The coordinator is responsible for responding to all stroke activation notifications during designated hours, playing a crucial role in the assessment and management of patients experiencing acute stroke events.

Additionally, this position involves mentoring professional nursing staff and other healthcare personnel in clinical practices and educational initiatives pertinent to the stroke center's objectives.

Maintaining compliance with relevant accrediting organizations is a critical function of this role, alongside facilitating patient care through regular rounds on stroke patients.


Qualifications
Education
Required:
Completion of an accredited nursing program.

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Experience
Preferred:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in neurological nursing.

Skills
Proven leadership capabilities.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Capacity to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
In-depth knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required:
Active RN License in the state of Missouri, NIHSS certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire), and Alteplase t-PA credentialing (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).

Required:
BLS certification must be achieved within 90 days.

Required:
ACLS certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Preferred:
ABNN certification as a neuroscience and/or stroke registered nurse (SCRN).
