Position Overview:

The Warehouse Operations Specialist is a pivotal role focused on materials management at the operational level. This position entails the execution of safe and efficient storage techniques, maintenance of computerized inventory records, and management of spare parts, supplies, and materials. Responsibilities also include processing purchase requisitions, managing receipts and shipments, and liaising with vendors for procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operations of the warehouse, including receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate perpetual inventory records, both manually and via computer systems.
  • Procure parts and materials while effectively communicating with vendors across a large division.
  • Oversee a reclamation program to return usable items to inventory.
  • Update and maintain plant and property records as necessary.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of warehouse functions and practices.
  • Understand storekeeping and shipping methodologies.
  • Possess familiarity with parts, materials, supplies, and general commodities.
  • Utilize computer inventory software proficiently.
  • Lead responsibilities in significant areas of warehouse operations.
  • Input data accurately into an automated inventory control system.
  • Maintain complex records and prepare necessary reports.
  • Perform physical tasks requiring strength and agility.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Ensure inventory control through regular cycle counts.
  • Assist in maintaining capital property record inventory as needed.
  • Carry out related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a warehouse setting or similar environment.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete hiring paperwork electronically.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Access to a valid telephone.
  • Willingness to work overtime or alternate hours as required.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strength and stamina to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to navigate confined spaces and uneven surfaces.
  • Full range of motion consistent with age.
  • Capability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception suitable for working at heights.
  • Safety footwear is mandatory.
