Facilities Maintenance Specialist

The Handyman will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform non-technical general building maintenance, light custodial, and minor repair duties
- Align with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety
- Perform general labor work as assigned, including loading, unloading, and moving materials
- Run errands to support projects
- Maintain lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps
- Maintain grounds of facility or property performing such tasks as raking, sweeping, or leaf blowing
- Identify and report maintenance hazards or other property condition concerns
- Perform housekeeping functions and maintain the professional appearance of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas
- Paint and patch drywall
- Perform other minor repairs under supervision
- Facilitate office access and moves by providing moving crates, assembling furniture, office keys, nameplates, etc.
- Respond quickly to emergencies, summoning additional assistance as needed
- Prepare meetings and conference rooms, arranging tables and chairs as requested
- May set up audio/visual equipment, flip charts, and TVs within conference rooms and pick up when completed
- Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work
- Report any conditions that could result in an accident or injury and/or stop work if required
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in repair and maintenance of facilities to include carpentry, painting, plumbing
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- High school education or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior maintenance personnel
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement
- Ability to use various measuring devices to check values and dimensions against allowable tolerances
- Enable to read and understand prints, diagrams, drawings accurately, and symbols
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Dependable and reliable
- Ability to apply basic concepts of math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using weights, measures, and percentages
- Ability to identify problems and review relevant information to evaluate options and develop solutions and ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Basic understanding of plumbing, and carpentry
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to multitask
- Performs all job functions in a safe manner following all established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Must be able to operate a forklift and successfully recertify annually
- Provide training and certification to forklift drivers as needed (new hires and existing employees as per schedule)
