Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign and oversee news crews
  • Identify and cultivate daily news content
  • Draft and publish content on the station's website and social media platforms
  • Produce engaging and precise written material
  • Monitor scanners and respond to breaking news, conduct beat checks, and track developments on websites and social media
  • Establish and maintain contacts and sources to develop story ideas
  • Respond promptly to breaking news
  • Support the efficient functioning of the assignment desk

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to journalistic ethics and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic computer and word processing proficiency
  • General knowledge and interest in local, national, and international news
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and emerging social media platforms
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism is preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record
