Job Overview

Position Summary:
This role is dedicated to providing hands-on training to mechanics and apprentices within the workshop, ensuring that all tasks are executed correctly and adhere to established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and oversight to apprentices on safe and effective techniques for the repair and upkeep of mechanical systems.
  • Manage the selection and assessment of on-the-job trainers, conducting interviews and recommending suitable candidates.
  • Design, develop, and update training program content, including manuals and supplementary materials.
  • Collaborate with technical training personnel to incorporate technology-based training methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports, ensuring timely submission.
  • Engage with maintenance management to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Schedule training sessions for maintenance staff.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to employees.
  • Contribute to the formulation of standard maintenance procedures relevant to training.
  • Administer assessments to gauge learner progress and track qualifications of maintenance personnel.
  • Operate vehicles as necessary to facilitate training efforts and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Safety and Security Responsibilities:

  • Implement safety measures to protect employees and the public, addressing workplace hazards proactively.
  • Enforce security protocols and report any related issues promptly.
  • Oversee the maintenance and certification of training equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in diesel mechanics, including body shop repair.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information in diverse settings.
  • Proficient in training materials for maintenance courses and familiar with industry-standard software for diagnostics.
  • Self-motivated and committed to continuous learning.
  • Possession of a CDL A with P endorsement is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a diesel mechanic training program.
  • Two years of experience as a facilitator or trainer.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • ASE Certification.
  • Education in a related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of bus components and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in data analysis and mathematical problem-solving.
  • Adaptability to new technologies and troubleshooting issues effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform various physical activities, including lifting, walking, and operating office equipment.

Classification:
This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
