Job Summary: As a Janitorial Assistant at Northgate Markets, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our stores. This is a part-time position that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empty all rubbish containers as prescribed by store management
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures
  • Replenish paper and soap supplies in all restrooms
  • Clean, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and buff floors in sales areas
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and submit purchase orders or requests to store management
  • Use and maintain all equipment in good condition
  • Assist in training associates and other personnel when required
  • Control excessive use of utilities and water and observe sound conservation practices
  • Record Sweep Sheet Log every 20 minutes of store inspections and sign log after daily shift
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures and participate in store's Safety Committee
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance

Requirements and Conditions:

  • High school education preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in diagram, oral, schedule, or written forms
