Job Title: Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at Pioneer Motor Bearing Company. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for machining operations required to manufacture and repair fluid film bearings, seals, and contract machining in a designated department.

Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture and inspect detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use mathematical and geometrical calculations.
  • Determine how to set up machines based on instructions received and perform minor equipment repairs.
  • Responsible for keeping the work area clean and free from safety hazards and maintaining acceptable quality and efficiency levels.
  • Must be able to utilize precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensional accuracy and specified tolerances during machining operations.
Qualifications:
  • Technical degree from a trade school or community college; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and company, customer, and governmental specifications and regulations.
  • Familiar with Okuma, Hyundai, Bullard VTL, Fanuc, and other machine tools.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and co-workers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and machining operations relevant to a company manufacturing and repairing fluid film bearings.
  • General knowledge of machining processes (including cutting fluids, surface finishes and tolerances, turning, drilling, milling, and abrasive processes.)
  • General familiarity with materials (steels, nonferrous metals, and alloys).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical drawings.
  • Military Experience a Plus.
