Geotechnical Engineering Project Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive geotechnical engineering assessments, analyses, and documentation.
  • Offer consultancy during earthwork operations, including the evaluation of change order requests, submittals, and inquiries throughout the construction phase.
  • Supervise and coordinate with construction inspection personnel.
  • Develop proposals, qualifications statements, scopes of work, and budget forecasts for geotechnical assessments and earthwork inspection initiatives.
  • Establish and/or support project and staff-level geologists/engineers in laboratory testing protocols for geotechnical assignments.
  • Assist in evaluating existing structures, including condition assessments, limited demolition, in-situ testing, and material sampling.
  • Mentor project and staff-level geologists/engineers.
  • Participate in business development efforts and attend relevant meetings.
  • Collaborate with other design professionals, particularly structural engineers, architects, civil engineers, and landscape planners, during project design and execution.
  • Review and endorse preliminary, design, and construction documentation.
  • Assess project plans and specifications for alignment with geotechnical engineering guidelines.
  • Engage in professional organizations such as SEAOCC, ASCE, APWA, and CalGEO.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous; a BSCE degree with experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing is the minimum requirement.
  • Over 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Must possess a California PE and/or GE license.
