This full-time position at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine is a non-tenure track role, offering comprehensive benefits and a rank commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Key Responsibilities:

Academic Contributions:
  • Engage directly in the instruction and development of clinical learning experiences throughout the 4-year continuum of medical student education.
  • Deliver instruction to medical students through lectures, small group sessions (problem and case-based learning), and bedside teaching as time permits. Topics include, but are not limited to, basic osteopathic manipulative medicine, clinical skills, clinical decision-making (differential diagnosis), and general medical knowledge.
  • Precept medical students in clinical environments, providing both formal and informal clinical instruction and supervision.
  • Contribute to the education of students from other colleges or graduate programs as requested.
  • Participate in graduate medical education as it relates to the college.
  • Assist in the development of the department's educational programs and provide curricular input to maintain academic standards and quality.
  • Facilitate communication between the department, administration, and other departments within the college and university.
  • Support the clinical services of the department to ensure quality patient care and educational experiences for student rotations.
Service to the College and University:
  • Participate and serve on committees within the college and university.
  • Engage in community relations efforts to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the University of New England.
  • Serve on state, regional, and professional committees related to the specialty or discipline.
  • Adhere to UNE and professional standards and regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, FERPA, and safety training.
  • Perform related duties as assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:

Board Certified DO Physician in NMM, Family Medicine, or General Internal Medicine; proficiency in performing and teaching basic skills in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is essential. Allopathic training will be considered on an individual basis if these skills have been acquired.
  • Specialty Residency Training in a relevant area (preferred).
  • Experience in curricular development and teaching, including learner supervision and evaluation (preferred).
  • Clinical patient care and teamwork experience.
  • Experience in bedside clinical teaching/precepting (preferred).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding leadership, teaching, and clinical capabilities.
  • Possess or be eligible for Maine licensure to practice.
