Job Summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Clinical Engineer to join our team. As a Biomedical Clinical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medical equipment in the hospital by applying and implementing medical technology to optimize healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and implement medical technology to optimize healthcare delivery
  • Ensure full compliance with all manufacturers, regulatory, institutional, and departmental guidelines
  • Provide in-service training for physicians, nurses, and biomedical department staff on the proper and safe operation of medical equipment
  • Represent the Biomedical Engineering department on hospital committees and leadership meetings
  • Conduct investigations into medical equipment incidents and develop plans to prevent future occurrences
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and recommend new medical equipment and technologies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the management of medical equipment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or related field
  • Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field preferred
  • One year of experience in a healthcare-related environment
  • Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Clinical Healthcare Technology Management (CHTM) certification preferred
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. The Biomedical Clinical Engineer must be able to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, vendors, and other stakeholders. The position requires a strong understanding of medical equipment and technology, as well as the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems.
