Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Surgical Nurse Leader in the Operating Room at Advocate Health. This is a unique opportunity to build your surgical resume and take on a leadership role in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide work direction to clinical and support staff, coordinating resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations.
  • Support direct patient care by performing the nursing process, delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality care through assessment, planning, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate patient care team needs, promoting communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff.
  • Act as a resource to employees, providing training, work direction, and performance feedback.
  • Assist with human resource responsibilities, including interviewing, selection, and employee development.
  • Monitor employee assignments, maintain staff scheduling, and evaluate staffing levels to maintain productivity.
  • Monitor quality of care, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Provide input to budget and ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for patient care and a safe work environment.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in clinical nursing within an acute care setting.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based interventions and nursing skills/technology.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make critical, independent decisions and think ahead.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood, and body fluids, and communicable disease.
