Job Summary:

Manages the daily operations of the diagnostic imaging department to ensure quality, access, and budget goals are achieved. Oversees all administrative, technical, and clerical operations to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Imaging Service Director to meet the clinical needs of physicians, staff, and members, and develops a strategy to achieve an integrated service line for diagnostic imaging.
  • Manages department operations by maintaining schedules, monitoring performance improvement, safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and participates in planning major facilities construction/renovation projects.
  • Ensures equipment and procedures are safe, functional, and capable of meeting diagnostic needs in a timely manner.
  • Develops and monitors payroll and non-payroll budgets, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and implements measures to reduce expenses.
  • Manages union supervisors and staff, resolves human resource and labor relations issues, and ensures department safety.
  • Selects and trains technical and administrative imaging staff, monitors performance, and participates in developing competencies, performance standards, and imaging protocols.
  • Develops and implements a plan for equipment procurement, maintenance, and replacement, and stays up-to-date on new developments in diagnostic imaging technology.
  • Ensures adherence to state and federal rules and regulations on safety and quality assurance programs, and maintains compliance with The Joint Commission, MQSA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Kaiser Permanente conducts regular compensation reviews and reserves the right to reevaluate and change job descriptions or position status.
Requirements:
  • Supervisory experience within the last three years in an imaging department is required.
  • Working knowledge and experience in a high-volume imaging department are necessary.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, labor relations, and human relations skills are essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory standards is required.
  • Strong computer skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist.
  • Imaging certification (CRT, RDMS, ARRT, CNMT, ARMRIT) is preferred.
  • ARRT with advanced registry is a plus.
