JOB TITLE: Radiology Technician

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Radiology Technician is responsible for conducting fluoroscopic procedures for patients across various age groups, adhering to established radiology practice standards. This role encompasses all aspects of patient imaging care, including clerical tasks, assisting physicians, and ensuring comprehensive patient outcomes within the surgical department.

SUPERVISION: Under the guidance of a Physician or Chief of the Medical Facility

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Prepare and instruct patients for radiologic examinations under supervision
  • Assess and establish appropriate anatomical positions while ensuring patient safety
  • Explain procedures to patients and assist in removing any items that may interfere with imaging
  • Position patients accurately for effective radiographic imaging
  • Handle x-ray film placement and processing
  • Operate both stationary and portable radiologic equipment to capture images for diagnostic purposes
  • Produce and develop radiographs for medical evaluations
  • Maintain and prepare processing solutions for film development
  • Assist in fluoroscopic procedures and document unique cases
  • Ensure the upkeep of equipment and work environment
  • Monitor patient conditions throughout imaging procedures
  • Utilize radiation protection measures to safeguard patients
  • Adjust machine settings based on patient measurements to achieve optimal imaging results
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Perform additional related tasks as necessary

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Proficient understanding of modern radiologic technology and techniques; knowledge of human anatomy; familiarity with standardized clinical procedures; awareness of radiologic safety protocols; capability to operate and maintain radiologic equipment; and efficient inventory management skills.

Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients and colleagues; ability to provide emergency care; proficiency in film processing and record-keeping; capability to follow instructions and analyze situations accurately; and the ability to foster collaborative relationships.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (including licenses or certifications)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology from the relevant health authority
  • Minimum of two years of experience in radiologic techniques under a qualified medical radiologist
  • Completion of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program

TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with email platforms for professional communication
  • Proficient in Word and Excel for document creation and data management
  • Experience with medical data systems for review and entry preferred
