Department Overview

The Enterprise Health and Safety (EH&S) division encompasses PG&E's Regional Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Safety, Contractor Safety, and the Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS). This team collaborates with various enterprise partners to implement comprehensive safety programs that bolster the regional safety model, enhance workforce safety (including contractor safety), and ensure public safety. The EH&S team is responsible for developing and maintaining safety standards, evaluating the enterprise safety culture, and overseeing the PSEMS. Furthermore, the team facilitates the Enterprise Corrective Action Program (eCAP), which is a trusted and effective program for identifying, evaluating, trending, and tracking the resolution of safety issues. The PG&E Academy plays a crucial role in ensuring that employees possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and in compliance with regulations through well-structured training programs.

Position Summary

The role focuses on identifying, preventing, and mitigating safety risks within the organization. The specialist provides expert advice on field observations and offers guidance on the development of corrective actions. This position requires collaboration with various business lines to address safety concerns effectively. The specialist will communicate safety trends and propose corrective measures, serving as a resource for the development, implementation, and sustainability of company-wide safety initiatives.

Compensation Information

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Hourly Rate: Ranges from $41.35 to $62.02

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and driver observations to assess safety compliance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the accident investigation team to identify causal factors.
  • Foster collaboration with business lines to integrate safety practices at all organizational levels.
  • Communicate safety trends and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Provide coaching to line of business supervisors on new safety initiatives.
  • Serve as a safety expert for line of business supervisors and field personnel.
  • Consult with supervisors on incident investigations and the development of corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety kickoffs or morning meetings to share new safety information.
  • Support the rollout of company-wide safety initiatives developed by other departments.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a safety professional certification (e.g., ASP, CHST, CUSP, OHST) within one year of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Safety professional certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, CHMM).
  • Experience in electric utility field operations.
  • Familiarity with electric utility field operations is preferred.
