Job Opportunity: Associate Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Associate Teacher to join our team at Community Action Head Start. As an Associate Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality education program to preschool-aged children in our Head Start Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster positive relationships with children and support their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers to plan and implement daily education programs that meet the individual needs of children.
  • Assist in creating developmentally appropriate classroom activities that promote learning and growth.
  • Observe, assess, and document children's health, skills, behavior, growth, and development.
  • Ensure the education program meets program standards and individual child needs.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to children at all times.
  • In the absence of the Lead Teacher, take responsibility for classroom management.
  • Develop effective relationships with parents through regular communication.

Qualifications:

  • Formal education or training in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or enrollment in a CDA program.
  • Minimum one year experience working with young children and their families in a day care or related setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Sensitivity to the experiences, needs, and strengths of low-income and diverse populations, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to take initiative to continually improve service.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, principles, and best practices of early childhood education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to building relationships with staff and families.
