Job Summary

The Seed Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production activities of the Marek's Seed Lab, ensuring compliance with SOPs, batch records, and production outlines. This role involves achieving key productivity deliverables, coaching, and developing employees within the team.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Development & Leadership:
    • Model company leadership principles and inclusive behaviors.
    • Provide coaching and support skills development and process capabilities within the Focus Factory.
    • Ensure effective feedback and coaching within the team during the Performance Management cycle.
    • Accountable for ensuring all operators receive appropriate training for assigned tasks.
    • Accountable for the effective performance management of individuals in their teams.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Demonstrate a strong compliance mindset (EHS, Quality, and Finance) and set a high standard for themselves and their team.
    • Ensure all staff adheres to the Company Safety and Waste Management Policies.
    • Follow safe operating instructions for all tasks and equipment.
    • Ensure the right tools and equipment specified for the task are available and utilized.
    • Ensure the correct personal protective equipment required is available and utilized.
    • Follow up on any reported defects or workplace hazards immediately.
    • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses within 24 hours and participate in the investigation and identification of effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Quality Compliance:
    • Support the on-time completion of Quality compliance tasks in relation to Deviation, CAPA, and Change Control management.
    • Support all aspects of Quality Assurance including cGMP, RFT, and good documentation practices, and provide coaching to the rest of their team.
  • Productivity:
    • Accountable for the weekly and monthly schedule adherence of production activities within their department.
    • Contribute to creating a culture of continuous improvement and lead by example.
    • Sponsor effective problem-solving and ensure resources are available.
  • Financial:
    • Responsible for meeting the agreed departmental budget for Spend, Production Activity, Discards, and Headcount.
    • Recognize and investigate opportunities for financial savings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (i.e. chemistry, general biology, cellular biology, microbial biology, etc.) or at least 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of four years' experience in the biologics industry; two or more years of managerial/supervisory experience in the biologic/pharma industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems; investigations/CAPAs/performing gap assessments.
Working Conditions
  • Cleanroom manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible and sometimes long hours.
