Mechanical Assembly Technician

Shifts Available: Day and Night

Overview:

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on assembly machinery, including high-speed automation lines and cell operations.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 2-4 years of mechanical experience in automation, assembly, and packaging equipment within a manufacturing setting, particularly in plastics
  • Basic computer proficiency for production tracking (e.g., IQMS, Word, Email)
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including pneumatics and electrical systems; familiarity with AC/DC circuitry is advantageous
  • Experience in welding and machining is a plus
  • Basic machining capabilities with manual milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and various saws and grinders
  • Ability to drill and tap holes using a hand drill
  • Fabrication skills are preferred
  • Basic welding skills (stick, TIG, MIG) are preferred
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges
  • Must possess personal basic tools and a toolbox
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call shifts
  • Capability to lift 50-70 lbs as needed
Food Safety Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with food safety and quality standards
  • Adhere to company food safety and quality assurance protocols, completing documentation accurately
  • Restore all work surfaces to sanitary conditions post-job completion
  • Report any incidents or product/process failures that may affect food safety to management and submit a safety/food safety incident report
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily maintenance on assembly production equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Train and audit operators on proper machine operation according to Standard Work Procedures
  • Conduct set-ups, repairs, and troubleshooting on all assembly machines
  • Assist technicians with preventative maintenance on assembly and secondary operation machines
  • Manage set-up and changeover components on all assembly and secondary operation machines
  • Communicate real-time status of assembly operations with team leadership throughout the shift
  • Document all tasks and issues during the shift in production reports via logbook and IQMS
  • Maintain machines and associated equipment in peak condition
  • Make necessary adjustments and repairs to equipment to ensure continuous production
  • Understand and operate all machines and equipment to facilitate repairs
  • Identify and differentiate various styles of caps and jars
  • Make tooling changes within a reasonable timeframe
  • Focus on results using visual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Be multi-skilled to support team members as required
  • Develop and adhere to standardized work instructions to minimize machine downtime
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Shifts: Day 7:00 AM - 7:15 PM and Night 7:00 PM - 7:15 AM with alternating weekends off.
