The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will deliver comprehensive medical care under the guidance of physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. The PA/NP will utilize medical techniques and principles as directed by a supervising physician, addressing a diverse patient population. Home visits or nursing home consultations may be required as part of patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
Completion of a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program, along with a background in health or medical sciences. State licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is mandatory, along with CPR certification and any other relevant credentials.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner role is required, or demonstrated proficiency in the field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Enhances patient health by delivering medical services under physician supervision.
- Assists in identifying immediate and long-term patient care challenges to improve physician efficiency.
- Proposes treatment options and care plans for patients.
- Collects comprehensive medical histories, including current and past health issues, medications, allergies, and treatment compliance.
- Records physiological measurements and applies health promotion techniques.
- Administers vaccinations and provides both acute and chronic care, including orthopedic assessments, wellness exams, pre-operative evaluations, and medication prescriptions.
- Participates in operating room procedures, including patient positioning and suturing, as directed by the surgeon.
- Manages patient inquiries and refers them to the appropriate medical staff when necessary.
- Responds to medical emergencies, including performing CPR.
- Documents patient interactions and care in medical records while maintaining confidentiality.
- Educates patients and their families to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established protocols and legal regulations.
- Ensures compliance with state policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Engages in ongoing professional development through educational opportunities and networking.
- Conducts hospital rounds and reviews diagnostic results and therapy progress.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervising physicians.
