Role Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for ensuring that outgoing shipments are prepared in accordance with specific customer guidelines. This position operates on a standard first shift schedule, providing potential opportunities for additional hours during weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in the retrieval, labeling, scanning, and processing of orders is essential.
- Proficiency in SAP for managing all movement transactions and scanner data manipulation is required.
- Effective communication with assembly teams is necessary for the timely preparation of daily shipments.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere.
- Demonstrate motivation to work independently while achieving productivity goals.
- Willingness to learn various warehouse roles to support team operations is expected.
- Regular communication regarding order status with customer service representatives and warehouse personnel is essential.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years in a fast-paced warehouse setting is preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience operating order pickers, forklifts, and turret trucks is necessary, with prior certification in material handling equipment being advantageous.
- Ability to identify customer-specific components and prepare them accordingly is crucial.
- Attention to detail is mandatory, especially in resolving inventory discrepancies.
- A strong attendance record is required.
- Capability to operate docking tractors and maneuver 53' trailers to loading docks is essential.
- Basic math skills and effective communication with supervisors and team members are important.
- Flexibility for weekend work and extended hours may be required.
- Support for receiving inbound deliveries during weekends is necessary.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of warehouse operations, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Competency in computer usage; experience with warehouse management systems and RF scanners is preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory control methods, including FIFO, Cycle Counting, and KAN-BAN principles.
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles is beneficial.
- Language Proficiency: Effective communication skills are required.
Reasoning and Mathematical Skills:
- Strong reasoning abilities are essential.
- Basic mathematical skills are a must.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including management.
Work Environment:
- Warehouse setting with continuous forklift operations.
- Physical activities such as standing, walking, and bending will be performed throughout the shift.
- Exposure to dust and varying weather conditions may occur.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
