About the Role

The Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the position of Before/After-School Certified Tutor. This role is a critical part of our efforts to provide academic, social, physical, and skill development for students in specific grades/subject areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tutoring plans for each student, detailing individual goals and suggested enrichment activities for both home and school.
  • Assess and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  • Develop and assist students with academic exercises and class activities, focusing on small groups and individualized instruction as needed.
  • Compile, prepare, and organize materials and classroom for instruction and other learning activities.
  • Reinforce all knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
  • Assist teachers with academic instruction and daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
  • Provide instructional support and reinforcement to students identified in need of tutoring services.
  • Utilize effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques, and directed teaching methods.
  • Collect and compile statistical data for accountability and program development.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited institution, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
  • One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
