Survey Party Chief

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to lead our survey crew in executing field surveys accurately and efficiently. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising survey crew members, providing leadership in vehicle, instrument, and equipment care and maintenance, and developing thorough and accurate field notes, survey reports, and calculations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead survey crew in executing field surveys accurately and efficiently.
• Supervise survey crew members in proper surveying techniques and equipment operations.
• Provide survey crew leadership in vehicle, instrument, and equipment care and maintenance.
• Develop thorough and accurate field notes, survey reports, and calculations.
• Proactively provide routine communications to supervisors and administrative support staff.
• Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders and to all company policies, procedures, and directives from supervisors.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
• Must be available to travel and work overtime occasionally.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in surveying/geomatics, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
• SIT or PLS preferred.
• Certified Survey Technician, Level II or III (CST) or ability to obtain within specified timeframe.
• Proficient with business software such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• A minimum of 5 years survey experience with Survey Crew Chief experience.
• MD SHA and route survey experience considered a plus.
• Position requires comprehensive knowledge of GPS surveying including static, fast static, RTK, and VRS.
• Proficiency with field survey instruments (Leica).
• Proficiency using laptop computers and data collection software.
• Must be a self-starter and work with little guidance.
• Must be able to work independently or as part of a survey crew as required.
• Must be available to travel and work overtime occasionally.
• Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds daily.

Working Conditions:

• Work in outdoor environment 95% of the time.
• Moderate noise level.
• Travel via automobile on daily basis.
