The Diesel Mechanic-Electrician is responsible for performing maintenance and electrical tasks on heavy and light-duty equipment used in coal mining operations.
The role requires troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various types of mining and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
The position collaborates closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment availability and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner, and Shop Foreman to execute maintenance and electrical tasks, including troubleshooting low-voltage systems, replacing faulty components, and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all tasks meet federal and state regulatory standards to optimize equipment reliability, safety, cost-effectiveness, productivity, and environmental sustainability.
- Interpret and work from maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, and electrical schematics.
- Utilize low-voltage electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to repair surface mining equipment effectively.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and electrical work within mining operations, with a focus on mechanical systems.
- MSHA Electrical Certification and knowledge of MSHA diesel regulatory requirements.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as dictated by operational needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Essential Functions:
- Regularly required to reach, handle, and operate objects, tools, or controls using hands, arms, legs, and feet.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders or steps.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds for short distances.
- Effective verbal communication and hearing abilities are required.
- Must possess strong visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to maintain focus and concentration in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform duties in various weather conditions and on different surfaces during day and night shifts.
