UIC Government Services and the Bowhead Family of Companies is seeking a Technical Support Analyst to enhance our team in providing IT deployment and infrastructure support.
This role necessitates a professional with extensive experience who can effectively collaborate within a government and contractor team environment.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and secure disposal of end-user desktop and laptop computers, servers, peripherals, and office networking equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure all system servers, including both hardware and software components.
Supported servers include, but are not limited to:
- File, print, web technology, SharePoint applications, and other servers as necessary.
- Set up and configure desktop workstations, laptops, tablets, and wireless access points, including re-imaging and sanitizing older devices.
- Implement and configure data backup systems and devices.
- Manage data backup media, including both onsite and offsite storage solutions.
- Review server system performance as requested and provide written recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain records of all configuration changes and updates for each system.
- Advise on disk space utilization across all servers, including monitoring and enforcing user quota limits.
- Install and configure antivirus software for both workstations and servers.
- Oversee server patch management, including installation processes.
- Install, test, and manage software add-ins and hardware devices within the server environment.
- Travel to or remotely access sites to troubleshoot and repair servers as needed.
- Provide Tier I and II support for local area networks (LAN).
- Generate reports on site status as requested.
- Manage Active Directory policies, scripts, and permissions.
- Collaborate with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) for support of DNS and WINS.
- Report any suspicious activities to the appropriate response center.
- Participate in testing for new hardware and software compatibility and usability.
- Coordinate with Electronic Mail Operations regarding Exchange Mail Systems.
- Create and manage accounts and distribution lists within Active Directory.
- Rename and configure LAN printers as directed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of documented experience in a similar role within a government or government-support capacity.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work comfortably in a collaborative government/contractor team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Candidates must successfully pass a suitability background investigation. Preference will be given to those with a current and favorably adjudicated background investigation.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
