Food Service Worker

Elgin Community College is seeking a Food Service Worker to join our team. As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food to our students, faculty, and staff.
Job Summary:This is a part-time position that requires a high level of customer service. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a clean and sanitary cafeteria.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and serve food to our customers.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary cafeteria, adhering to State of Illinois Department of Public Health standards and regulations.
- Stock food items after deliveries.
- Run daily reports and balance cash drawer to register tape on a daily basis.
- Maintain positive customer service.
- Maintain required training, licensure and/or certifications.
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adhere to applicable privacy laws.
- Demonstrate sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
- Maintain an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
- Adhere to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Working skills in customer service.
- Working skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Working skills in verbal and written communication.
- Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department's needs.
This position is located in Elgin, IL and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work in a loud noise environment and will be exposed to typical office or administrative environmental conditions.
