Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Amentum as a Liquid Oxygen Operations Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is working towards a common goal of launching people to the Moon and Mars.

About the Role

As a Liquid Oxygen Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of the liquid oxygen system at launch complex 39B for the Artemis program. You will work closely with other systems such as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), NASA customer, and other engineering subsystems. Your knowledge of pressurized pneumatic and mechanical systems will be essential in this role, and experience with cryogenic systems is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the maintenance and operations of the liquid oxygen system at launch complex 39B for the Artemis program.
Integrates with other systems such as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), NASA customer, and other engineering subsystems.
Requires knowledge of pressurized pneumatic and mechanical systems.
Knowledge and experience of cryogenic systems is preferred.
Must be able to work off-shifts, weekends, and overtime to support launch processing.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
Must have the ability to successfully interface with customer Engineers and test Team representatives as well as manage completion of tasks on schedule to customer satisfaction.
Ability to read schematics, drawings, and specifications as well as interpret and communicate to the Test Team.
Ability to write detailed technical work instructions for Execution. Previous experience with manufacturing, integration, or ground processing a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in report writing as well as technical presentations.
Experience working as a member of a formal team and able to function as such immediately.
Understand and learn hardware configurations and processes.
Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and only general guidance. Must be motivated to learn and execute.
In-depth computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and outlook.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.

Work Environment

Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, is required to access various locations on the facility.
Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Attendance

Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions

Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Must comply with all 'drug free workplace' requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
Government security clearance may be required in the future.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
