Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor - Outfitting to join our team at Philly Shipyard Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the outfitting production process, ensuring that all safety procedures and regulations are followed, and coordinating activities with other teams and sub-contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulations
  • Interview and select candidates for positions within the team
  • Discipline non-performing employees and provide positive reinforcement to high-performers
  • Coordinate activities with other teams and sub-contractors
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Lead and motivate the production team to achieve efficiency and quality goals
  • Monitor and report on work progress, quality results, and production hours
  • Guarantee the readiness of all machines and equipment
  • Collaborate with the preparation team on work packages, material deliveries, and improvements
  • Perform internal inspections and present work results to the classification organization and building management
  • Provide daily safety instructions and conduct continuous checks on HSE requirements and cleanliness
  • Work according to valid quality standards
  • Collaborate with employees on design, planning, and production
  • Monitor and report on production data, manning, and budget
  • Plan and organize transportation and supply storage
  • Define and plan needed manpower
  • Work according to building methodology
  • Perform other related duties as required

Education and Experience
  • Successful degree in mechanical engineering or naval architecture
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • 5-15 years of professional experience in shipbuilding production or ship repair, manufacturing of heavy steel structures, or production of pressure vessels, boilers, and other quality products
  • Provable welding/shipbuilding technical knowledge
  • Experience in instructing production teams and using computers
  • Experience with modern production machines and automated production lines
Work Environment

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, climbing, working at heights, extended walking or standing, etc. is required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
