Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mold Shop Supervisor/Mgr to join our team at Cambro Manufacturing Co. The ideal candidate will have experience with Injection and/or Rotational Molds in a mold shop environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities of Mold Shop employees, supervising the activities of Mold Shop employees to achieve continuous improvement in quality, cost, safety, and productivity, and implementing procedures, fixtures, machinery, and products.

  • Manage and coordinate activities of Mold Shop employees who work on items for injection molding, composite molding, structural web molding, CNC operations, rotational molding, and/or engineering/qualification mold testing.
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of Mold Shop employees as per Mold Shop Manager and MOS guidelines.
  • Perform assignments, assist others, and/or oversee repairs or tasks to all existing molds, new mold preparation, or secondary tooling.
  • Schedule work times and set priorities for their area of responsibility.
  • Implement procedures, fixtures, machinery, and products.
  • Coordinate activities concerned with research and development of new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing, organizing, and monitoring the routine maintenance and cleaning of injection molds, composite molds, structural web molds, shop machinery, rotational molds, foam fixtures, and/or secondary tooling.
  • Oversee new injection mold preparation, EOA or foam fixture, rotational mold, and/or secondary tooling construction.
  • Manage, supervise, and follow up on repairs or modifications done in house and with outside vendors.
  • Interpret and apply company policies to employees through daily interactions, meetings, and enforce safety regulations.
  • Partner with production department managers, engineering, and quality to support/work on projects and process improvement opportunities.
  • Interpret or create specifications, blueprints, and work orders to employees, and assign specific duties.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Work closely with production and engineering and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and the quality of product.
  • Administer personnel functions, including recruiting, assisting in review and approval of job descriptions, salary classifications, selection, and placement of personnel.
  • Create and deliver performance evaluations and disciplinary corrective actions, as needed.
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or employees.
  • Analyze and resolve employee conflicts and/or assist workers in solving work problems. Actively engage with employees to motivate and assist them to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
  • Follow all safety procedures required in work area, wear PPE as needed, attend all safety meetings, and report safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Perform effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treat everyone with respect.
  • Take ownership of own work and behavior, accept accountability for own actions, encourage solutions, and communicate status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.
  • Able to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture, display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
  • Understand department's key performance indicators and contribute to achieve these goals both individually and as a team.
  • Other duties as needed or required.
