Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous individual to take on the role of a full-time Housekeeper, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and safety within our senior living facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes resident apartments and communal areas by managing waste, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing bathrooms, and maintaining headboard and footboard cleanliness, adhering to community policies and procedures.
  • Restocks essential supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and facial tissues.
  • Conducts deep cleaning of apartments and common areas as assigned, following established community protocols.
  • Shampoos carpets and upholstery, washes windows and screens as needed.
  • Responds promptly and respectfully to residents' cleaning requests.
  • Prepares apartments for new residents by ensuring a clean and inviting environment, following detailed checklists to complete all tasks.
  • Handles clean-up after incidents efficiently while maintaining the dignity of the resident.
  • Maintains cleaning equipment and supplies in a clean and functional state.
  • Reports any safety concerns, required repairs, or problematic areas to the Director immediately upon recognition.
  • Adheres to all infection control and safety protocols associated with job responsibilities as outlined in departmental policies.
  • Organizes and maintains the cleaning cart, ensuring it is orderly and stocked appropriately, while observing safety rules regarding supply storage away from residents and others.
  • Protects the confidentiality of residents' personal information and upholds their rights.
  • Exhibits a professional appearance by wearing a clean, pressed uniform and fostering a positive, nurturing environment for residents, families, vendors, and guests.
  • Promotes a positive customer service atmosphere and practices honesty and integrity in all performance aspects.
  • Informs supervisors of low supply levels to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Ensures adequate coverage for meal service by coordinating with the Culinary Services Director and/or Host/Hostess, including taking resident meal orders, providing drink refills, and assisting with the cleaning and resetting of the dining area between meals.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and staff, ensuring the safety and security of residents.
  • Familiarity with housekeeping procedures and practices is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks as emergencies arise.
  • Capable of reading and understanding instructions on cleaning products and equipment to mitigate risks.
  • Aware of the location of MSDS sheets for hazardous materials and able to comprehend the guidelines.
  • Demonstrates compassion and genuine care for the elderly.
  • Exhibits a SERVANT heart and attitude, aligning with the mission of Bethesda Senior Living Communities.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in housekeeping within a healthcare or hospitality setting is advantageous.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements

The work environment includes residents who may experience memory issues, incontinence, and require assistance with mobility. The position may involve strenuous physical tasks, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently.
