Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering relevant health information.
  • Perform laboratory procedures, such as strep tests and wound cultures, using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice clinicians with procedures, such as pelvic exams and allergy testing.
  • Administer medications, under physician orders, and follow through with necessary procedures and test requests.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth clinic flow.
Requirements:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days of hire.
  • GED or HS equivalency diploma and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport with patients and team members.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and navigation within electronic medical records systems.
