Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to students with special needs, kindergarten through grade 12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with parents, administrators, and department team members to create and implement IEPs that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Support Learning and Development: Design and deliver instruction, both individual and small group, that parallels the general education curriculum, supporting students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • Communicate with Parents and Colleagues: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop educational plans that promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
  • Monitor Progress and Evaluate Effectiveness: Regularly monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of students' IEPs, and maintain accurate student records.
  • Mentor and Support Teaching Assistants: Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants who work with students with disabilities, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to excel in their roles.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment, preferably in special education.
  • Skills and Qualifications: State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching, Standard Secondary Teaching, and Standard Special Teaching preferred. Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred. Proficiency in English language required. Computer proficiency required.
