Senior Veterinary Technician

The Senior Veterinary Technician is a key member of the University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) department, responsible for providing high-quality care to research animals at Temple University. This senior-level position requires a strong background in veterinary technology, with experience in animal handling, anesthesia, and surgical support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide pre-, peri-, and post-operative animal care and associated husbandry.
- Set up operating suites, including disinfection of rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Work in systems requiring aseptic technique and provide proper induction and maintenance of anesthesia for all species.
- Assist with surgical procedures and provide best outcomes for patients.
- Lead the execution of the rodent animal health surveillance program, including scheduling of testing, completing submission forms, collecting and processing samples, maintaining records, and managing outbreaks.
- Associate degree in a life science or related discipline.
- 1 or more years of veterinary technician experience.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, etc) highly desirable.
- AALAS certification at LAT level or higher is highly desirable.
