Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Body Technician to join our team at Classic Collision. As a Body Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to their original condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Service Advisors in assessing damage to vehicles prior to repair.
  • Make cosmetic repairs to vehicles.
  • Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications.
  • Develop efficient methods for each job to ensure all needed repairs are identified and completed.
  • Plan work procedures and follow work orders for all operations listed.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, and trim to gain access to damaged areas of vehicles.
  • Store parts on carts or cover them to prevent damage.
  • Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welders, soldering equipment, cutting torches, and sanders.
  • Fill depressions with body filler and remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills.
  • Reassemble parts after painting and ensure all gaps and fits are to industry standards.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with 120-grit paper before turning vehicles over to the Paint Department.
  • Aim headlamps and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to check for compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Comply with all Classic Collision safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective repair.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-4 years of body shop experience strongly preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Customer-focused and organized with a high energy level and persistence.
  • Product knowledge and ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical and Environmental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and walk occasionally for long periods at a time. The employee may occasionally be required to reach with hands, arms, and move objects up to 20 pounds.
