Job Overview

The Structural Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing skilled technical repairs and maintenance on various structures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: A high school diploma or an equivalent certification.
  • Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) months of experience after achieving a specific grade level, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and required testing.
Experience Levels
  • Level D: Two (2) years in structural repair or a related discipline, or completion of an accredited trade program.
  • Level C: Three (3) years in structural repair or satisfactory performance as a Level D Technician.
  • Level B: Four (4) years in structural repair or satisfactory performance as a Level C Technician.
  • Level A: Five (5) years in structural repair or satisfactory performance as a Level B Technician.
  • Level AA: Six (6) years in structural repair or satisfactory performance as a Level A Technician.
  • Level AAL: Seven (7) years in structural repair or satisfactory performance as a Level AA Technician.
Certifications
  • Level D: Roadway Worker Protection Level 2 Certification.
  • Level C: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 60 days of promotion.
  • Level B: Valid CDL or ability to obtain within 60 days of promotion.
  • Level A: Valid CDL and Roadway Worker Protection Level 4 Certification.
  • Level AA: Valid CDL and Roadway Worker Protection Level 4 Certification.
  • Level AAL: Valid CDL and Roadway Worker Protection Level 4 Certification.
Mission Essential Designation

This position is critical to the operational functions of the organization, requiring incumbents to report during emergencies or severe weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

The Structural Maintenance Technician will:

  • Conduct repairs, installations, and maintenance on bridges, tunnels, and other structures in accordance with established standards.
  • Perform cleaning and sealing of structural components.
  • Refinish and repair structural surfaces, including concrete and other materials.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Utilize scaffolding and high-reach equipment as required for assigned tasks.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in repairs during adverse weather conditions.
Work Environment

Work may involve heights exceeding 70 feet and confined spaces. Flexibility in shifts and hours is required.
