About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Rivers Edge Hospital. This is a full-time position with an estimated salary range of $25,750 - $32,410 per year.

Job Description:
  • Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures to provide timely and accurate test results for healthcare providers.
  2. Contribute to our Laboratory's Quality Assurance Plan by identifying and resolving quality control issues.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service by adhering to River's Edge Hospital's Standards of Behavior.
  4. Maintain a high level of proficiency in performing waived, moderate, and high complexity tests as authorized by the Lab Manager.
  5. Properly identify and collect specimens for laboratory testing via venipuncture, capillary collection, and arterial collection methods.
  6. Participate in our proficiency testing program and adhere to the Laboratory's quality control policy and procedures.
  7. Document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance performed.
  8. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, patients, and the public regarding test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements.
  9. Possess a working knowledge of reagent stability and storage.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Exercising good judgment in non-routine situations.
  2. Communicating test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements.
  3. Answering inquiries about test results, methods, specificity, sensitivity, and specific factors that can influence test results.
  4. Seeking assistance or clarification when needed: accepting constructive criticism.
  5. Adhering to federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines (OSHA, CLIA).
  6. Adapting to changes in practice, accepting and implementing approved changes and learning new tasks.
  7. Taking responsibility for one's own career development, seeking out and participating in appropriate continuing education.
  8. Managing stress and resolving conflicts.
  9. Performing EKGs using the Mortara ELI 380 device.
Requirements:
  1. Have earned an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from an accredited institution and be ASCP certified or equivalent.
  2. Be certified with one of the following: ASCP, HEW, HHS, ASMT.
  3. Ability to travel to other work sites as needed with own transportation.
  4. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain certification within six months of hire through the American Heart Association.
