Job Summary

Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Service Technician to join our team. As an Industrial Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing repair and maintenance on containers and/or the vehicle fleet. This position requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may involve prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform grinding, cutting, welding, and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner, in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Fabrication and Repair: Perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal and plastic parts.
  • On-Site Repairs: Perform on-site repairs at customer locations, including hydraulic and electrical work.
  • Inspections and Maintenance: Perform detail inspections and preventative maintenance on compactors, containers, and equipment.
  • Welding and Grinding: Cut, weld, and grind steel components using a plasma cutter, torch, and Mig and Arc welding equipment.
  • Steel Fabrication: Bend steel components using a break and shear, and fabricate steel components on compactors and containers.
  • Tool Utilization: Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical components and run electrical conduit/wire according to code.
  • Welding and Painting: Complete welding and painting at customer locations.
  • Safety Checks: Complete safety checks on containers, compactors, and troubleshoot equipment both electrical and hydraulic.
  • Paperwork: Complete required paperwork utilizing a computer system.
  • Safety Devices: Ensure all safety devices are in good working order.
  • CDL Operations: Operate a CDL vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Customer Service: Travel to customer sites for repairs and follow-up, and work with management on scheduling work.
  • Teamwork: Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
  • Additional Duties: May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Basic Electrical Knowledge: Basic electrical knowledge is required.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with using a computer is necessary.
  • Welding and Mechanical Aptitude: Excellent welding and mechanical aptitude is required.
  • MIG/ARC and Stick Welding: Knowledge of MIG/ARC and stick welding is necessary.
  • Cutting Torch Skills: Cutting torch skills, including the ability to use a plasma cutter, are required.
  • Small Shop Tools: Knowledge of small shop tools is necessary.
  • Forklift Operation: Ability to operate a forklift safely is required.
  • Installation Diagrams and Troubleshooting Manuals: Proficient in the use and interpretation of installation diagrams and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Schematics and Wiring Diagrams: Familiar with the use of schematics, wiring diagrams, and related troubleshooting guides pertaining to commercial hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions
  • CDL Requirements: Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • DOT Medical Card: Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one prior to hire.
  • Age Requirements: Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Moving Violations: No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • DUI/OVI: Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Exposure to Traffic: Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to Waste: Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Travel: Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Flexible Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Availability: Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls.
  • Eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Pre-Employment Testing: Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • English Language: Must be able to read and speak the English language.
