Diesel Service Technician Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Service Technician to join our team at Sternberg International Truck Sales & Service - Bloomington. As a Diesel Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty and medium-duty diesel vehicles in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment
  • Read job orders, observe, and listen to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunctions and plan work procedures
  • Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure they run smoothly
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to the warranty clerk
  • Attend training classes and stay up-to-date on factory technical bulletins
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction
  • Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures
  • Participate in and utilize technical training as assigned by management
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Ensure guest vehicles are returned in the same condition as they were prior to being serviced
  • Show courtesy to all guests, visitors, and dealership personnel
  • Make every effort to achieve production objectives set by management
  • Adhere to manufacturer's policies and procedures when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications
Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of Fleet or Dealership experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ASE certification preferred
  • CDL certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Strong sense of dedication to the customer and service team
  • Self-motivated and professional
  • Ability to pass a routine background check and drug screening
  • Possess own tools
