PeaceHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Intensive Care Unit:
- Per Diem role
- The general salary range for this position is $74.48 per hour.
The actual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including job responsibilities, location, applicable collective bargaining agreements, education, training, work experience, seniority, and performance.
This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Multiple openings may be available.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and assess patient care requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with established protocols.
- Supervise and assign tasks to other team members based on their qualifications and demonstrated skills.
- Enhance professional effectiveness through ongoing education and development.
- Contribute to the formulation and adherence to hospital policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing School is mandatory.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Specialty certification is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum one year of RN experience in adult critical care or 400 hours in ICU as a nursing student within the last year, or successful completion of the ICU training program. Must be capable of functioning independently with advanced treatments and equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and managing life-threatening arrhythmias is essential.
Licensure and Certifications
- Required: Valid nursing license in the state of Oregon.
- Required upon hire: Basic Life Support certification.
- ACLS certification is required within six months of hire.
- PALS certification is required within six months of hire or transfer.
- NIHSS and TNCC certifications are required within twelve months of hire.
Skills
- Demonstrated understanding of age-specific principles of growth and development to meet patient needs. (Required)
- Refer to community-specific documentation for required credentials for each Unit/Department. (Required)
- Proven ability to foster positive interpersonal relationships and a patient-centered work environment. (Required)
- Ability to support and interpret the medical center's philosophy, policies, and procedures. (Required)
- Basic computer proficiency. (Required)
Department / Location Specific Notes
Peace Harbor Medical Center:
- One year of adult critical care experience or 400 hours in ICU as a nursing student within the last year, or successful completion of the ICU training program is required. Must be able to function independently with advanced treatments and equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and managing life-threatening arrhythmias is essential.
- Required: BLS certification at the time of hire; ACLS certification within six months of hire/transfer. NIHSS and TNCC certifications within twelve months of hire/transfer.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements
- Patient handling limited to 35 lbs. without assistive devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills necessary for operating medical equipment and performing precise tasks.
- Frequent pushing/pulling of up to 45 lbs. (e.g., medical carts).
- Ability to perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes using appropriate force (National Association of EMS Physicians and AHA). Frequency should be occasional.
- Capability to navigate the area with frequent sitting.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
- Occasional lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. and frequent lifting of 5 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazards, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
- Ability to perform tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual Requirements
- Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
