Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic with expertise in servicing and repairing large lumber equipment to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy machinery used in lumber processing and production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on large lumber equipment such as sawmills, log loaders, bulldozers, and forklifts.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly and safely.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and technical manuals for repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed on each piece of equipment.
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to prioritize and schedule repairs to minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety regulations and practices at all times while working on equipment.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of spare parts and equipment supplies.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preferably with large lumber equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is advantageous.
- Certification or formal training in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours emergency repair needs.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy parts and equipment.
